West Wing Building Committee Update for August 27, 2021– “The Fire Alarm System work is completed and Ascension has passed both the fire inspection by the South Metro Fire Department and the City of Littleton inspection. This means the building is safe for us to enter. This also means that we can move furniture and other items into the West Wing, so we are planning on moving from the storage units at the end of this week.

In addition, during this past week the Wifi system was upgraded, along with completion of many of the items on the Punch List. This does not mean that the Punch list is complete – there are still items that need attention and will be addressed the next few weeks.

Financial update: These numbers are the same as last week. The monies spent on the Project to date are $850,816 with an invoice of $81,532 due when all the Punch List items are complete. The Construction Loan balance remains at $175,000. Thank you for your continuing contributions to Project Peter.

We thank everyone for your prayers and we are very grateful that the end of this project is near. We needed and continue to need your prayers and the Lord’s help to finally transition this effort from a work project to a fully functioning building dedicated to the Lord’s work.”  West Wing Committee: Bob Hea, Roger Koester and Chuck Mielke

The Preschool is now meeting in the Fellowship Hall on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Many items on the extensive Punch List items are now complete. We are planning to complete all of the inspections and the Punch List soon. Meanwhile, we are now scheduling the move into the building. We anticipate the moving process into the building will occur quickly and in an orderly manner.

West Wing Building Committee Update for August 13, 2021– “The West Wing Project is now in the “details” stage. As an example, there are numerous small pieces of blue tape that mark all the spots that need to be “touched up with paint” along with a list of items that includes but not limited to finishing the “Kids” bathroom, thermostat operation adjustment, some lighting controls adjustment, and special cleaning. The Fire Alarm System work is continuing this week and we are planning on an inspection this Friday by South Metro Fire Department to be quickly followed up by the City of Littleton inspection.

We are planning to locate the Preschool in the Fellowship Hall when it begins next Monday, August 16 and move into the West Wing when the Punch List items are complete, and the State of Colorado Preschool Inspection is final. We hope all of the inspections and the moving process into the building will occur quickly and in an orderly manner.

Financial update: The monies spent on the Project to date are $850,816. The Construction Loan balance is $175,000. We are pleased and thankful that contributions to Project Peter are continuing nicely over these past several weeks.

West Wing Building Committee Update for August 6, 2021– The project is nearing conclusion – and we all know it is now August! We still praise the Lord!  We are waiting for the plumbing inspection – they ran into problems with the sewer line and some of the valves that needed replacement. In addition, the other items we are waiting for can be quickly installed and completed such as the gutter downspouts and the remaining parts of the Fire Alarm System. Once the Fire System is tested, we can contact South Metro Fire Department and the City of Littleton for inspections. After passing these inspections, we can begin moving into the West Wing.

We are planning to locate the Preschool in the Fellowship Hall when it begins on Monday, August 16 and move into the West Wing when all the numerous Punch List items are complete, and the inspections are final.

Financial update: The monies spent on the Project to date are $761,093. The loan still stands at $175,000. We are pleased and thankful that contributions to Project Peter are continuing nicely over the summer.

We continue to request prayers for Ascension, the West Wing Project Committee, Workers and Staff as we enter a time when completing this Project involves many details and some obstacles.” West Wing Committee: Bob Hea, Roger Koester and Chuck Mielke

West Wing Building Committee Update, July 23 – “The project is nearing conclusion – praise the Lord! Interior painting/caulking is continuing this week. We are pleased to report that we were able to save the downstairs murals by taping, plastering, and painting around them. The parking lot bollards protecting the lower level are now cemented in place. The brickwork is finished. We are waiting on delivery of a few items that can be quickly installed such as the gutter downspouts. The major system that remains to be completed is the Fire Alarm System upgrade. Once the Fire System is tested, we can contact South Metro Fire Department and the City of Littleton for inspections. After passing inspections, we can begin moving furniture back into the building.

Financial update: The monies spent on the Project to date are $761,093.

Please pray for Ascension, the Project, Committee, Workers and Staff as we enter a very busy time completing this Project.”  West Wing Committee: Bob Hea, Roger Koester and Chuck Mielke

West Wing Building Committee Update, July 16 – “We are still anticipating a Project completion date in July. This week the painters are working in all areas, the Bollards are being installed in the parking lot to secure the lower level from vehicles, the entry doors from the Narthex to the West Wing have been removed and are being refinished and the new fire control panel is being installed. There are still items such as the locks and some door entry issues to complete along with a “punch list” of specific items.

Once the construction phase is complete, we will be issued a “Certificate of Occupancy” by the City of Littleton. We are not done when this document is issued, we will need to finish several tasks; including but not limited to; systems checks, install and adjust the shelves in the new cabinets and closets to accommodate stored materials, move the office from the Nursery and move all the stored materials and furniture back into the building. Professional movers will move materials and furniture into the building, but we will need volunteers to assist the staff to properly place those materials. These helpers can in some instances just instruct the movers. Please call the Church at 303-794-4636 to place your name on a list so we can contact you to help the staff.

Financial update: The total of all Project Invoices to date is $761,093. The Construction Loan will increase to about $175,000 soon, with an unpaid invoice of $108,811. After the Construction Phase is completed, the Lutheran Church Extension Fund will end the Construction Loan and issue a standard commercial mortgage loan to Ascension. This loan will require monthly payments.

Please pray for Ascension, the Project, Committee, Workers and Staff as we enter a busy time completing this Project.” West Wing Committee: Bob Hea, Roger Koester and Chuck Mielke

West Wing Building Committee Update, July 9 – “The project is moving quickly now. We are anticipating a Project completion date in July. This means an official document called the “Certificate of Occupancy” will be issued by the City of Littleton. But, after this document is issued, we will need to finish several tasks; including but not limited to; systems checks, adjust the shelves in the new cabinets and closets to accommodate stored materials, security updates, move the office from the Nursery and move all the stored materials and furniture back into the building. Professional movers will move materials and furniture just into the building, but we will need volunteers to assist the staff to properly place those materials.  Please call the Church at 303-794-4636 to place your name on a list so we can contact you to help the staff.

A recent invoice of $103,297 was submitted and that invoice brings the total of all Project Invoices to $750,615. The Construction Loan is now $57,221.51, with unpaid invoice of $103,296.75. After the Construction Phase is completed, the Lutheran Church Extension Fund will end the Construction Loan and issue a standard mortgage loan to Ascension. This loan will require monthly payments.

Please pray for Ascension, the Project, Committee, Workers and Staff as we enter a difficult time of completing this Project because of all the final details.” West Wing Committee: Bob Hea, Roger Koester and Chuck Mielke

West Wing Building Committee Update, July 2 – “The fun VBS Picnic last Sunday let everyone have a close-up view of the West Wing Project. There were many questions about the project. Our answers are summarized as – Yes, there are several exterior items including the gutters, brickwork, Boiler Room vent and other parts that need to be completed. There are also many interior items that need to be completed such as dry wall, paint, shelving in the closets, locks, signs and other details.

We are anticipating a Project completion date in July. This means an official document called the “Certificate of Occupancy” will be issued by the City of Littleton. But, after this document is issued, we will need to finish several tasks; including systems checks, adjust the shelves in the new cabinets and closets to accommodate stored materials, security updates, move the office from the Nursery and move all the stored materials and furniture back into the building. Professional movers will move materials and furniture into the building, but we will need volunteers to assist the staff with those materials. Please call the Church at 303-794-4636 to place your name on a list so we can contact you to help the staff.

A recent invoice of $103,297 was submitted and that invoice brings the total of all Project Invoices to $750,615. This total requires us to utilize the Construction Loan. Church Mutual has not reported the exact amount of the Construction Loan to date because they are currently processing that loan.

West Wing Building Committee Update, June 25 – “The big news this past week was that the “protective shell” was removed. The exterior is short some glass, which is back ordered and the new brick facing. Thanks to John Rolling, we were able to sell the used OSB Boards from the “Shell”. The inspections are proceeding and South Metro Fire Department has approved our alarm/fire detection plan. We are anticipating a Project completion date in July. But after completion, we will need to finish some final security tasks, systems checks, adjust the new cabinets and closets to accommodate stored materials and move the stored materials and furniture back into the building. Professional movers will move materials and furniture into the building but we will need volunteers to assist the staff. Please call the Church at 303.794.4636 to place your name on a list so we can contact you to help the staff.

On the monetary side, a recent invoice of $156,000 was submitted last week and this brings the total invoices to $647,031.00. This total will require us to begin the Construction Loan. Church Mutual has not reported the exact amount of the Construction Loan to date. They are processing the loan.

Please pray for Ascension, the Project, Committee, Workers and Staff as we enter a difficult time of completing this Project.” West Wing Committee: Bob Hea, Roger Koester and Chuck Mielke

West Wing Building Committee Update for June 18 – “The good news is that there are many parts of the Project being worked on all at once. The hard part now is getting all the parts completely and properly finished. Inspections are proceeding; we passed the electrical inspection last week. We are anticipating passing the Fire System Inspection soon. We are now looking at an extended Project completion timeline of late June or very early July. But after completion, we will need to finish some final security tasks, systems checks, adjust the new cabinets and closets to accommodate stored materials, and move the stored materials and furniture back into the building. Professional movers will move materials and furniture into the building but we will need volunteers to assist the staff. Please email alutheran@aol.com or call the Church at 303-794-4636 to place your name on a list so we can contact you to help the staff.
On the monetary side, a recent invoice of $156,000 has been submitted and this will require us to begin the Construction Loan. Please pray for Ascension, the Project, Committee, Workers and Staff as we enter a difficult time of completing the “punch list” for this Project.” West Wing Committee: Bob Hea, Roger Koester and Chuck Mielke

West Wing Building Committee Update for June 11 – “The operable windows are being installed. Once these operative windows are complete, the ventilation insert for the old Boiler Room is installed and all the glass in the door units is installed, the building will be secure. Electrical, HVAC system, Fire System inspection and installation, grid ceiling, low voltage wiring, locking systems, flooring, and painting are continuing as reported last week. Most of the new cabinets have been installed and most of the new plumbing fixtures are in place. The youth restrooms on the lower level are complete. Pastor’s Office is finished. We anticipate being able to remove the “shell” around the building soon and then everyone will be able to witness the beautiful new exterior. There are many, many parts of the project being completed all at once. Getting all the various parts of the project finished is usually the most difficult part of a renovation and we are now at that stage. Project completion is scheduled for late June but after completion, we will need to move all the stored materials and furniture back into the building.

As reported last week, we have paid invoices totaling $481,031 to date. The next significant invoice will require us to begin the Construction Loan. Please pray for the Project, Committee, Workers, and Staff as we near the end and most difficult portion of this project.” West Wing Committee: Bob Hea, Roger Koester, and Chuck Mielke

Electrical, HVAC system, Fire System inspection and installation, grid ceiling, low voltage wiring, locking systems, flooring, and painting are continuing. The youth restrooms on the lower level are complete. Pastor’s Office is complete. We anticipate being able to remove the “shell” around the building in about two weeks and then all will be able to witness the wonderful new exterior. Project completion is scheduled for late June.

We have paid invoices totaling $481,031 to date. The next significant invoice will require us to begin the Construction Loan.
